The Kemper Society, a Community of Friends
SINCE 1837, Christ Church Cathedral has been rooted in the heart of Monument Circle, an enduring beacon of Christ’s hope and abundant life for our city and for the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis. With each new generation, our Cathedral has innovated to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, welcome the stranger, and serve those the world considers last, lost, and least.
In a time of breathtaking change and transition, we remain vibrantly steadfast in our mission to Glorify God, Serve our Neighbors, and Transform our City. We look to the future with open eyes and hope-fi lled hearts, ready to build upon the legacy of our ancestors, while preparing our Cathedral community for the faithful generations who will follow us.
What is the Kemper Society?
The Jackson Kemper Society is a community of members and friends of Christ Church Cathedral who commit to supporting in perpetuity our Cathedral’s enduring vocation to be a living, vibrant presence of God’s grace on Monument Circle and for the City and the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis.
In 1830, Bishop Jackson Kemper, our Society’s namesake, left his comfortable New England calling and ventured boldly, bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ and the hope and promise of the Episcopal Church to the Midwest. Continuing his legacy of entrepreneurial leadership, we, too, are investors and stakeholders in the abundant future of Christ Church Cathedral through our lifetime gifts of time, talent, treasure, and prayer.
Previous generations of Christ Church Cathedral members and friends have prepared the way for us by establishing our endowment that sustains our current ministry and allows us to innovate to be a vibrant church for our times. Just as our forebearers have so generously brought us to this moment, now we empower and pave the way for future generations of our Cathedral community to lead, serve, and thrive…abundantly.
